On November 27, 2025, the HACC decided not to resume the proceedings against Member of Parliament Serhii Shakhov, who is accused of false asset declaration.
The court suspended the case back in 2023 after Shakhov began evading justice. At the hearing, the prosecutor stated that Shakhov is still on the wanted list: according to the latest information, he was seen in one of the EU countries as well as in the United Arab Emirates, but his exact whereabouts remain unknown.
Shakhov himself periodically submits motions to the court, claiming that he is in Kyiv. His defense counsel argues that this confirms his proper procedural conduct and stresses that Shakhov would like to take part in the hearing online.
However, the court refused to allow Shakhov to join via videoconference, as he is officially wanted. This means he must appear in person for the court to be able to consider the motion to resume the proceedings.
As reported earlier, the SAPO accuses MP Serhii Shakhov of false asset declaration of more than UAH 60 million. The case concerns apartments, luxury houses, land plots, and other assets.
