On December 1, 2025, the HACC Appeals Chamber partially modified the interim measure imposed on former Vice Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov, a defendant in the “Mindich tapes” case, by revoking the requirement to surrender his Ukrainian passport.
The defense argued that the suspicion was unfounded and that no risks existed for the criminal proceedings.
Chernyshov’s lawyer also stated that there was no evidence that Chernyshov had received any money from the criminal organization. According to the defense, the recorded conversations do not concern Chernyshov at all, and he did not receive any unlawful benefit.
The defense therefore asked the court to overturn the investigating judge’s decision entirely and cancel the interim measure altogether.
Chernyshov himself stated that the case has nothing to do with him and that he has no connection whatsoever to Energoatom.
The prosecutor opposed the appeal, stressing that all risks remain substantiated, including the risk of absconding, given that Chernyshov has left Ukraine repeatedly.
