On October 10, the HACC selected an interim measure for a prosecutor of the Prosecutor General’s Office and a lawyer suspected of inciting a $3.5 million bribe in exchange for closing a corruption case. The suspects were placed in custody with an alternative of UAH 2 and 4 million bail respectively.
The case concerns a prosecutor of the PGO and several lawyers who, according to the investigation, offered a suspect in a criminal proceeding to arrange for the case to be closed under the “Lozovyi amendments” by bribing officials of the SAPO and the HACC with a $3.5 million bribe.
The suspects were exposed by NABU detectives after receiving an advance payment of $200,000. Their actions have been preliminarily qualified under Articles 15(2), 27(4), and 369(4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
