Pavlo Kyrylenko, Chair of the AMCU, who is charged with illegal enrichment and false asset declaration, asked the HACC to allow him to travel abroad to attend events of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. On November 10, he received a personal invitation from the organizers.
Kyrylenko had previously requested that the travel ban be lifted for similar events. The court denied permission, and another AMCU official attended in his place.
The defense argued that such events are usually attended by heads of agencies.
The prosecutor disagreed and noted that Kyrylenko could participate via videoconference.
